How the scoring works
Each control is scored 0 (none) to 3 (strong). The total ranges from 0 to 24 and lands in one of three bands: At risk, Exposed, or Defended. Mid-points are partial credit on purpose — pick the answer that describes your situation today, not the one you would like to be true next quarter.

0–7One or more controls are well below the ACSC Essential Eight floor. Easy to fix in a quarter.
Exposed
8–16Workable but with notable gaps. A focused 30-day plan moves you into Defended.
Defended
17–24At or above the ACSC baseline for small business. The next move is keeping the lead.
